DISC
I’ve been having some discussions with a friend of mine as to some aspects of what constitutes a good hire. He brought up a pretty interesting concept. It’s called DISC.
Drive
Drive is a pretty simple concept. How motivated is a person to go for it and get things done or jump in and find out how to do it? How driven are they to accomplish things? To what lengths are they willing to go to learn new things?
Inducibility
How well does a person take orders and run with them without asking questions? If they do ask questions, how good is their reason for asking?
Security
How secure is this person in their skill set and in themselves? How do they react to being pushed a little beyond their boundaries?
Conformity
How well does this person conform? Is he going to fit into the team or stand out like a sore thumb? Is he a house dog or a lone wolf? Is he interested in bettering the team or himself or both? So those are the basic concepts. I’ll have more to say later.
